A 40-year-old man from Guran village, Sanwer tehsil, Indore district, was allegedly set on fire by his wife after a heated argument late on Friday night, September 16. The victim, Prahlad Borana, informed the police that he had a dispute with his wife, Krishnabai, which escalated into violence.
In a fit of rage, Krishnabai reportedly poured kerosene on Prahlad from the stove she was using to cook and ignited him with a matchstick. As Prahlad cried out for help, Krishnabai attempted to extinguish the flames but not before her husband had suffered 30% burn injuries.
Prahlad was quickly taken to the hospital for treatment. Sanwer police have registered a case against Krishnabai under Section 308 of the Indian Penal Code (attempt to commit culpable homicide). The authorities are currently searching for her, as she has not yet been detained.
