In July 2021, a 38-year-old woman from Ahmedabad, Gujarat, allegedly conspired with her 19-year-old lover and two other men to murder her unemployed husband.
The accused woman, Rekha, enlisted the help of her boyfriend Sabir Pathan and friend Raju Damor in the crime. A 22-year-old man also assisted them in strangling the victim, Jignesh Solanki, to death.
Solanki was jobless and had been spending his wife’s money, which reportedly angered Rekha and led her to plan his murder. Pathan and Damor agreed to help Rekha, promising to live together after the crime.
On July 17, the four accused met at the eastern side of the riverfront near Ellis Bridge. They took Solanki to Ellis Bridge, where they assaulted and then strangled him. The group left his body near Victoria Garden and fled the scene.
The Gaekwad Haveli police initially registered a murder case and transferred the investigation to the crime branch. The crime branch has arrested Rekha, Pathan, and Thakkar, and is currently searching for Damor.
