Woman Arrested for Husband’s Murder in Chandrapur, Exposed by Daughter

In Maharashtra’s Chandrapur district, a woman was arrested for murdering her husband, three months after his death. The shocking crime was uncovered by her daughter, who found an audio recording of her mother’s confession.

Ranjana Ramteke allegedly killed her husband, a retired government officer, on August 6 while he was asleep, according to the police. Shortly after committing the crime, Ranjana called her lover and casually confessed, which was captured in the audio recording.

“I suffocated him with a pillow. I will call relatives in the morning and inform them about his death. I will say that he suffered a heart attack,” Ranjana was heard saying on the call.

The next morning, she informed her relatives about her husband’s “heart attack,” and he was cremated the following day without suspicion. For three months, her plan went undiscovered until her daughter, Shweta, visited.

Shweta found the incriminating audio recording while using her mother’s phone. She promptly reported it to the police.

“Shweta came to the police station with the audio recording. The recording captures a conversation between Ranjana and her lover, Mukesh Trivedi, where she describes how she killed her husband and planned to tell everyone he had a heart attack,” a senior police officer said.

After reviewing the audio, the police summoned both Ranjana and Mukesh and confronted them with the evidence. Both confessed to the crime and were subsequently arrested.

This tragic incident highlights how a daughter’s discovery led to the arrest of her own mother for a meticulously planned murder.
