In a serious complaint filed in 2015, a male court staff member from New Delhi accused a woman trial court judge of repeated verbal abuse and harassment. He claimed that she went as far as telling him to commit suicide. The man, who was suffering from depression, submitted his complaint to the District and Sessions Judge at Tis Hazari Courts.
According to the complaint, the harassment began in 2014 when he started working under the Metropolitan Magistrate. He stated that she constantly insulted him using abusive language, both in open court and inside her chamber. He claimed she often made him stand in her chamber for hours and forced him to follow every command without question.
The staff member described a particularly traumatic incident on September 16, 2015. He alleged that the judge called him into her chamber, abused him with degrading language, and when he asked her to stop, she opened the window and told him to jump and end his life. Feeling shaken, he left the chamber and sought treatment at the court dispensary after experiencing severe distress.
He added that the judge once told him that another staff member had previously attempted suicide and that he “deserved the same fate.” These repeated threats left him emotionally disturbed and fearful.
In his written complaint dated September 17, 2015, the staff member requested that the judge be transferred from the court and asked for a personal hearing to share his full experience. He also mentioned that he had tried to contact two senior judges about the matter but was unable to reach them as they had already left for the day.
As of now, no further updates have been made public regarding the complaint or any action taken.
