In 2015, a male court employee in New Delhi accused a woman trial court judge of ongoing verbal abuse and harassment. According to the complaint, the judge not only used abusive language but also told him to commit suicide.
The man, suffering from depression, claimed that the judge’s mistreatment began shortly after his posting in 2014. He filed a formal complaint to the district and sessions judge at Tis Hazari courts, listing multiple incidents where the metropolitan magistrate harassed him. He stated that the judge would force him to stand in her chamber for hours and made derogatory comments. When he requested her to stop the verbal abuse, she allegedly told him to jump from a building and end his life.
The staff also said that the judge threatened him by referencing a previous court employee who had attempted suicide, implying that he “deserved the same fate.”
On September 16, 2015, the abuse escalated. The man stated in his complaint that the judge used such offensive language that he felt physically unwell, had to leave the room, and later sought medical help. He claimed he was left traumatized by the incident and is still recovering from the shock. The next day, he tried to approach two senior judges about the situation, but they had already left.
The man requested the transfer of the metropolitan magistrate and sought a personal hearing to present his case. He also asked for a reassignment due to the continuous mistreatment.
To date, no further updates have been provided on this incident.
