Woman Fined for Filing False Rape Case Against Husband
On Wednesday, a special court for Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (Pocso) Act cases fined a woman ₹20,000 for falsely accusing her husband of raping her minor sister in 2019.
The special judge, Mahendra Srivastava, found the rape allegations to be false based on the evidence presented during the trial.
The woman, from Nalluthukuli village near Pollachi, had filed a complaint with the Pollachi all-woman police. She accused her husband of raping her 16-year-old sister, who lived with them after their parents passed away. The police arrested the husband and charged him under sections 5(l), (n), and 6 of the Pocso Act and Section 506(i) of the Indian Penal Code.
However, during the trial, the minor girl testified that her brother-in-law did not rape her. As a result, the court acquitted the man and fined his wife for making a false accusation.
This case highlights the importance of thorough investigation and evidence in legal proceedings to ensure justice is served.
