The incident happened in Ambernath, located in Thane district, on Wednesday morning. According to police, Vrushali Kulkarni, the elderly woman, was peacefully singing devotional songs (bhajans) at home, while her daughter-in-law, Vijaya Kulkarni, was watching TV at high volume in the same house.
Vrushali asked Vijaya to reduce the TV volume so she could continue her prayers without disturbance. However, when Vijaya did not listen, Vrushali switched off the television. This led to a serious argument.

The injured elderly woman then approached Shivajinagar Police Station and lodged a complaint against her daughter-in-law. Based on the complaint, a criminal case has been filed.
Police are investigating the case under appropriate charges. The incident has shocked locals due to its unusual and violent nature within a family setting.
