A highly unusual case has surfaced from Gujarat, where a woman reportedly sent her husband to jail seven times—and also helped him get bailed out each time.
Premchand Mali and his wife Sonu, residents of Mehsana village, got married in 2001. Premchand, a daily-wage laborer, was the sole earner in the family and managed their household despite financial struggles. There were no major issues between the couple except for money-related stress. However, things changed in 2014, when fights between them began.
In 2015, Sonu filed a domestic violence case against her husband, accusing him of physical and mental abuse. The court ordered Premchand to pay her a monthly allowance of ₹2,000. But he claimed he was too poor to afford it. As a result, he was sent to jail.
Five months later, he was released on bail—which was arranged by his wife. But the strange part is what followed. From 2016 onwards, Sonu filed multiple complaints against Premchand, and he was sent to jail five more times. Each time, she helped him get out on bail after a few months.
This repeated cycle of imprisonment and bail has left the local police frustrated. Officers have reportedly shown concern over the couple’s ongoing legal and personal drama.
While many marriages face ups and downs or even end in separation, this case stands out for its repetitive legal actions and the wife’s confusing behavior—accusing her husband, then helping him.
The incident has sparked debate over misuse of legal provisions, marital trauma, and mental strain on spouses caught in difficult relationships.
