Hyderabad, Telangana: In a horrifying act of revenge, a 21-year-old engineering student named P Hari Hara Krishna killed his friend N Naveen, a 22-year-old tribal student from Mahatma Gandhi Engineering College, after accusing him of harassing his girlfriend.
The gruesome murder happened in Pedda Amberpet, on the outskirts of Hyderabad, in the early hours of February 18. The crime was revealed only after Krishna surrendered to the Abdullapurmet Police on Friday and confessed.
During the police interrogation, it was found that Krishna and Naveen were old classmates from their college days in Dilsukhnagar. Naveen had previously dated the girl who later got into a relationship with Krishna. After the breakup, Naveen allegedly harassed her with repeated calls and messages.
Three months ago, the girl told Krishna about the harassment. In response, he planned to kill Naveen.
On February 17, Krishna invited Naveen for a get-together. They had dinner at Krishna’s home and spent time roaming the city. Later, Krishna offered to drop Naveen back to his college hostel in Narketpally but instead took him to an isolated area in Pedda Amberpet.
Krishna, under the influence of alcohol, bought a knife and got into an argument with Naveen. In a drunken state, he strangled Naveen with a rope, then beheaded him, cut open his stomach, and removed his heart. He also chopped off his private parts and fingers, before abandoning the body.
Naveen’s family had earlier filed a missing person report with the Narketpally police. The shocking truth came out only when Krishna turned himself in.
Krishna has been arrested and charged with murder, destruction of evidence, and under the SC/ST (Prevention of Atrocities) Act.
