The Madhya Pradesh High Court has upheld an order granting ₹1,500 monthly maintenance to a woman after a long live-in relationship, even without proof of legal marriage.
The Punjab and Haryana High Court ruled that a wife cannot be denied maintenance merely for being qualified, unless it is proven that she quit her job only to seek financial support. The court upheld a family court’s order granting ₹10,000 monthly to the wife and ₹5,000 for their son.
The Madhya Pradesh High Court has ruled that a woman in a long-term live-in relationship is entitled to receive maintenance after separation, even if they were not legally married.
