Rohtak Police to Track Women Filing False Rape Complaints to Prevent Extortion

The Rohtak police have launched a new initiative to track women who file false rape complaints and later use them to extort money from the accused. This measure aims to tackle rising cases of blackmail and honeytrapping, where false allegations are used to demand money or other benefits.

Preventing False Allegations and Extortion

Susheela Devi, Deputy Superintendent of Police (Crime Against Women) in Rohtak, explained that the police will now maintain a database of women who lodge false complaints. The goal is to prevent them from filing similar complaints at any police station within the district in the future.

This step comes in response to an increasing number of cases where women lodge false rape complaints to blackmail the accused for financial gain.

Recent Cases of Blackmail and False Allegations

In one instance, Rohtak police arrested a woman and her foster father for allegedly blackmailing a man they had accused of rape. The duo was caught accepting a payment of Rs. 7.5 lakh in exchange for withdrawing the rape complaint.

In another case, a woman accused a man from Bhiwani of raping her. However, upon investigation, the police discovered that she was married but had remarried after her husband went missing. Later, she filed a rape and dowry harassment case against her second husband. The woman also lodged a false rape complaint against a man from Fazilka at a Delhi police station. After learning about her history, the police decided to drop the case.

Rohtak Police’s Strategy

The Rohtak police’s new strategy involves creating a record of women who are found to be lodging false rape complaints. This database will help ensure that such women cannot misuse the legal system for personal gain in the future. The initiative aims to curb the rise of false cases and protect innocent individuals from extortion and blackmail.

This step highlights Rohtak’s commitment to tackling the growing problem of false accusations while maintaining justice for all individuals involved.
