The Rohtak police have announced a new initiative to track women who file false rape and sexual exploitation complaints, only to later extort money from the accused in exchange for withdrawing the charges. This move aims to curb the rising incidents of blackmail and honeytrapping in the district.
Susheela Devi, Deputy Superintendent of Police (Crime against Women) in Rohtak, stated, “We will create a database of such complainants to ensure they cannot lodge false complaints at any police station in the district.”
This decision follows several cases where women have allegedly filed false rape accusations for financial gain. In one recent case, the police arrested a woman and her foster father for allegedly blackmailing a man they had accused of rape. The duo was caught red-handed while accepting a settlement payment of Rs 7.5 lakh.
In another instance, a woman artiste accused a man from Bhiwani of raping her. Upon investigation, it was discovered that she had a history of filing similar complaints against different men.
