In a unique case from Alwar, Rajasthan, a man has filed a domestic violence complaint against his wife, alleging frequent physical abuse. The husband, Ajit Singh, a teacher, presented CCTV footage as evidence, showing his wife, Suman, beating him with a cricket bat in front of their 8-year-old son.
Ajit stated that the couple got married nine years ago and initially lived peacefully. However, he claimed that over the past year, his wife began abusing him without reason. The complaint, filed in a local court, prompted the court to direct the police to ensure the husband’s safety and conduct a thorough investigation.
“The complainant has alleged that his wife physically abuses him. We have summoned the wife to record her statements and sought a report by June 7,” said Vipin Sharma, Additional Superintendent of Police, Bhiwadi, Alwar.
Ajit told the court and police that he endured the abuse for the sake of their son but decided to act when the violence escalated. He also accused his brother-in-law of encouraging his wife’s behavior.
The CCTV footage shows Suman attacking Ajit with a cricket bat, a video that has since gone viral on social media. This incident sheds light on the often-overlooked issue of male victims of domestic violence, challenging societal perceptions of abuse within families.
The case has sparked conversations about the need for balanced discussions on domestic violence and support systems for male victims in India.
