Pune Grandfather Jumps From Building After Being Denied Meeting With Grandson

In a tragic incident from Pune, Namdev Sarodia attempted suicide by jumping from a building after his estranged daughter-in-law refused to let him meet his grandson. This heart-wrenching event took place between November and December of 2018, but a case was only recently registered following a complaint by Namdev’s son, Sandeep Sarodia.

According to the police, Namdev, along with his wife, had gone to his son’s house to see their grandson. However, his daughter-in-law, Shalini, angrily pushed them out of the house. Despite Namdev’s illness and repeated requests to meet his grandson, the family of his estranged daughter-in-law refused. This caused severe emotional distress to Namdev, leading him to jump from the fourth floor of the building after writing a suicide note.

The complaint, filed by Sandeep Namdev Sarodia, a 52-year-old resident of Baner, has resulted in a case being registered against Shalini, her mother Manilata Sharma, and her brother Shekhar Sharma at Chaturshringi police station. The case was delayed as Sandeep’s mother was undergoing medical treatment and due to the processing of the suicide note.

Assistant Police Inspector S. Gaikwad is currently investigating the matter.
