PUBG Murder Case: Teen Allegedly Kills Mother Over Affair and Family Conflict
In a shocking incident in Lucknow, a 16-year-old boy confessed to killing his mother on June 4 after accusing her of having an affair while his father was away on duty. The gruesome act has sparked nationwide attention due to its disturbing details.
The boy reportedly shot his mother using his father’s licensed revolver. Initially, it was believed the murder was triggered by a dispute over the popular game PUBG, but later revelations point to deeper family conflicts.
The Incident
The boy kept his mother’s body locked in a room for two days and informed his father about the murder during a video call on June 7. According to the Child Welfare Committee (CWC), the teenager claimed that a property dealer frequently visited his home during his father’s absence, leading to tensions between his parents.
The boy said that after he informed his father about the property dealer’s visits, the couple had a heated argument. His father reportedly made remarks implying drastic actions, which the boy took seriously. He also mentioned being beaten by his mother over a missing ₹10,000, fueling his anger.
One night, in a fit of rage, the boy used the pistol to shoot his mother while she was asleep. He later threatened his 9-year-old sister to keep quiet and used air fresheners to mask the smell of the decomposing body.
Controversy and Allegations
While the boy claimed full responsibility and expressed no remorse, his family alleges that he has been framed. They believe another individual manipulated the boy’s resentment towards his mother to orchestrate the crime.
The case gained attention when the Indian Olympic Association (IOA) dismissed the notion of PUBG being a factor in the crime, denying any plans to recognize or promote violent games.
Legal Proceedings
The teenager has been charged under Section 302 (murder) of the Indian Penal Code and is currently in a juvenile home. He told the magistrate that he was ready to face the death penalty for his actions, stating, “I killed my mother and partied the entire night with friends.”
Investigations are ongoing, with police examining the role of other suspects and the motive behind the crime.
