In a shocking incident, a Mumbai woman has been arrested for allegedly killing her husband, who was unemployed following the 2020 lockdown. On May 18, Arun Maurya, a 29-year-old technician from Goregaon, vomited blood, prompting his wife, Kavita, 22, to call neighbors for help and rush him to the hospital, where he later died.
Initially, Boisar MIDC police registered the case as accidental after Kavita claimed Arun had been unwell for several days. However, the autopsy report revealed that Arun had died due to abdominal injuries. Upon seizing Arun’s cellphone, police found video recordings showing Kavita assaulting him, starting from May 14.
Arun had secretly turned on his phone’s video camera and placed it on the window on May 14, capturing the assaults, including the final one on May 18, the day he died. Investigations revealed that Kavita frequently tortured Arun mentally over his unemployment and accused him of having extramarital affairs.
