In a shocking case, a Mumbai woman has been arrested for allegedly killing her husband, who had been unemployed since the 2020 lockdown.
On May 18, Arun Maurya (29), a technician from Goregaon, vomited blood, prompting his wife Kavita (22) to call neighbors and rush him to the hospital, where he later died.
Initially, the Boisar MIDC police treated the case as accidental after Kavita claimed Arun had been unwell for several days. However, the autopsy revealed that Arun had died from abdominal injuries. Further investigation led the police to seize Arun’s cellphone, which contained video clips showing Kavita assaulting him since May 14.
Arun had set his phone to record and left it on the window on May 14. The videos captured repeated assaults by Kavita, including the incident on May 18 when he died.
Kavita had reportedly subjected Arun to mental abuse, accusing him of infidelity and tormenting him for being jobless.
