In a shocking incident, a mother in Delhi tied her 5-year-old daughter on a rooftop under the scorching heat as punishment for not completing her homework. The incident occurred in Tukhmirpur, Karawal Nagar.
A video surfaced showing the child tied with a rope on the roof, struggling to free herself. The child can be heard screaming in pain as her skin burned from the intense heat.
The Delhi police have registered a case under Section 75 of the Juvenile Justice Act (Punishment for cruelty to child).
Sunil, the child’s uncle, explained, “The mother tied her daughter’s hands and legs and left her on the rooftop in the scorching sun because she didn’t do her homework. She was left there for a long time. When the family found out, they brought her down.”
Sunil also described the mother’s angry nature, stating, “She beats her kids for small issues. If anyone in the family tries to intervene, she claims only she has rights over them. She wasn’t like this before; it’s been like this for the past two to three years.”
The child’s aunt, Pooja, added, “She picks fights with family members over small things. She treats her 6-year-old son the same way. If we try to stop her, she beats them more, so we stopped interfering.”
Pradeep, a neighbor, said, “Everyone knows she beats her kids a lot. She once made her son stand naked in the winter in the lane. The neighbors gave him clothes afterward.”
The mother admitted to the police that she punished her daughter for five to seven minutes for not completing her homework and then brought her down.
After the video went viral, the police traced the family and registered a case against the woman.
