In a shocking incident from Ghaziabad, police uncovered a man’s body buried seven feet deep in a neighbor’s house after four years of investigation. The discovery was made on November 15, 2022.
Savita, the wife of the deceased Chandra Vir, had initially filed a kidnapping case in 2018, trying to deflect suspicion onto his younger brother. However, new leads recently prompted the Crime Branch to reinvestigate the case, said Diksha Sharma, Superintendent of Police (Crime).
The investigation revealed that Savita and her lover, Arun, had shot and dismembered Chandra Vir before burying his body in a pit at Arun’s house. The pit, prepared days in advance, was covered with cement to prevent any odor, allowing Arun to continue living in the house undetected. The police recovered the decomposed body, which had reduced to a skeleton, along with the pistol and axe used in the murder.
“The pit was kept deep to avoid any stench,” a police officer explained. The elaborate plan allowed the murder to go unnoticed for years until the recent breakthrough in the investigation.
The gruesome discovery coincided with another murder report from Ghaziabad, where a man from Bihar’s Seetamarhi district was found with his throat slit in his Khushal Park home on the same day.
This case underscores the importance of persistent police work and thorough investigation to bring long-hidden crimes to light.
