In a tragic incident in Karnataka, a 38-year-old man named Ratesh died after setting himself on fire outside Jigani police station near Hebbagodi. The incident happened on August 25 following a domestic dispute with his wife, Kavitha.
Ratesh and Kavitha had been married for 10 years, but the couple had been facing relationship issues for the past five years, often arguing over small matters. On the day of the incident, the couple got into another argument, after which Kavitha called her father and went to the police station to file a complaint.
Upset and angry, Ratesh followed her to the station. After parking his motorcycle outside the station, he poured petrol on himself and set himself ablaze.
Police officers on duty quickly intervened and managed to put out the fire, rushing him to the hospital. However, Ratesh had sustained over 80% burn injuries and later succumbed to his injuries.
Ratesh, a native of Chikkamagaluru, was employed in a private company in the Jigani Industrial Area.
This heartbreaking case has sparked concern about mental health issues and the emotional toll of prolonged domestic conflicts. Authorities are expected to investigate the events leading up to the incident further.
