Man Assaulted for Taking Selfie with Female Assistant, Rescued by Mother in Assam

In a recent incident in Assam’s Baksa district, a 23-year-old man named Jyotish Das was brutally beaten for taking a selfie with his female assistant. Jyotish, who has been working as a computer teacher at a private training institute for the past 10 months, faced this assault on May 23, 2020.

Members of the All Bodo Students Union reportedly went to Jyotish’s office, confiscated his phone, and took him to their office, where he was beaten. They questioned Jyotish about why he took a selfie with a girl from the Bodo community.

Jyotish explained that they were just good friends and only exchanged friendly texts. He even showed them the messages he shared with the girl, but this only led to more beating.

The situation escalated until Jyotish’s mother arrived to rescue him. It was later revealed that a boy from the Bodo community had a romantic interest in the girl and suspected she was having an affair with Jyotish. This misunderstanding led to the attack on Jyotish.

The boy’s family has now filed an FIR against those involved in the assault.
