IT Employee Dies by Suicide After Jumping from 14th Floor in West Bengal’s Newtown

Newtown, West Bengal – In a heartbreaking incident, a 34-year-old IT professional, Rajarshi Dutt, reportedly died by suicide after jumping from the 14th floor of a multi-storey apartment building in Newtown, near Kolkata.

Rajarshi, originally from Siliguri, was working with Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) and lived alone in a rented flat at Eden Court, a residential complex in Newtown.

According to police sources, security personnel heard a loud thud early in the morning and found Rajarshi lying in a pool of blood. He was immediately taken to Bidhannagar Sub-Divisional Hospital, where doctors declared him dead on arrival.

Preliminary investigations suggest that Rajarshi may have been struggling with depression, especially after losing his father six months ago. This emotional trauma is suspected to have impacted his mental health severely.

The Newtown Technocity police are currently conducting a detailed investigation to understand the exact sequence of events and determine if any external factors contributed to this tragic loss.

Mental health concerns, especially in high-pressure jobs like those in the IT industry, continue to raise alarms. Authorities are urging people to seek help if they experience emotional distress.
