IIT-JEE Aspirant from UP Beaten to Death by Fellow Students in Kota
A tragic incident unfolded in Kota, Rajasthan, where a 17-year-old IIT-JEE aspirant, Satyaveer, also known as Raunak, was allegedly beaten to death by fellow students. The attack took place late at night on November 11 at a tea stall in the Indira Vihar area.
Reports suggest that an argument escalated into violence, with a group of youths assaulting Satyaveer using iron rods and chains. He was rushed to a medical college, but despite efforts to save him, he succumbed to his injuries in the early hours of Tuesday.
Family in Shock
Satyaveer was from Karmakar village in Deoria district, Uttar Pradesh. His father, Tarkeshwar Singh, who works as a vendor, sent him to Kota to prepare for the IIT-JEE entrance exam. The grieving father shared that he received a call from the Kota police on Tuesday morning informing him about his son’s death. Shortly after, his wife Reema, who was staying with Satyaveer in Kota, also confirmed the heartbreaking news.
Singh traveled to Kota with other family members to collect his son’s body. He expressed deep sorrow, stating that he had sent his only child to Kota for a better future, only to return home with his lifeless body.
Attack at Tea Stall Leads to Death
According to the police, Satyaveer had been living in Kota for one and a half years, preparing for the engineering entrance exam. On the night of the incident, he was at a tea stall when a heated argument broke out with some fellow students. The confrontation quickly turned violent, leading to the brutal assault.
Bhiwani Singh, a circle officer in Kota, revealed that after the attack, Satyaveer managed to return to his room. However, his condition worsened late at night. His roommates rushed him to a hospital, but he could not survive the injuries.
Investigation and Legal Action
Police have identified six of the eight attackers involved in the incident. A case has been registered under relevant legal sections. However, Satyaveer’s father is demanding that the accused be charged with murder.
The village head of Karmakar, Ramesh Kushwaha, shared that Satyaveer had studied at Sarasvati Vidya Mandir in Gorakhpur before moving to Kota for IIT-JEE preparation. His sudden death has left the community in shock, raising concerns over student safety in coaching hubs like Kota.
Authorities continue to investigate the case, and further legal actions are expected soon.
