IAS Rohini Sindhuri and IPS D Roopa Transferred After Social Media Dispute
The Karnataka government has transferred IAS officer Rohini Sindhuri and IPS officer D Roopa Moudgil after a social media dispute over private photos. Both officers have been transferred without new postings.
D Roopa’s IAS husband, Munish Moudgil, has also been transferred. This incident is the latest in a series of public spats between the two women, who have been involved in separate controversies in the past. The conflict escalated when Roopa shared Sindhuri’s private photos on social media, accusing her of misconduct and alleging she shared the photos with male officers.
Sindhuri responded by calling the allegations baseless, claiming Roopa’s actions were motivated by personal hatred and suggesting Roopa had lost her mental balance. Sindhuri announced plans to take legal action against Roopa for misconduct and criminal offenses under the Indian Penal Code.
Both officers filed complaints against each other with the Chief Secretary of the Karnataka government, Vandita Sharma. Sindhuri told reporters, “Roopa is making baseless allegations against me. I have lodged a complaint with the Chief Secretary and sought action.”
Sindhuri added, “Roopa collected photos from social media and my WhatsApp status to defame me. She should reveal the names of the officials to whom she claims I sent these pictures.”
The Karnataka Home Minister, Araga Jnanendra, commented on the situation, stating that the police chief and the Chief Minister were aware of the issue. He emphasized that appropriate action would be taken, criticizing both officers for their public behavior.
“We are not staying silent. They are behaving badly, even worse than normal people on the streets. They can deal with their personal issues privately, but their public behavior is unacceptable,” Jnanendra said.
