Gujarat Man Wants to Annul Marriage After Discovering Wife’s Criminal Past
A man from Gujarat, Vimal Karia, has filed a petition to annul his marriage after learning that his wife is a wanted criminal in Assam.
Vimal met Rekha Das through a matrimonial website and later married her, unaware of her criminal past. After their marriage, he discovered that she was accused of robbery, theft, and even murder. Rekha, who presented herself as a religious woman, was actually on the run from a non-bailable warrant issued by an Assam court.
A Shocking Truth Unfolds
Vimal and Rekha quickly decided to get married after meeting online. However, Rekha had been married before. When Vimal asked for her divorce papers, she misled him, claiming she had a panchayat marriage and did not have a proper certificate. Believing her, Vimal proceeded with the marriage in Ahmedabad.
Just six months later, Rekha left, saying she needed to handle a land dispute in Assam. She never returned.
Criminal Connections and Lies
Investigations revealed that Rekha Das had been involved in a major car theft case. She was arrested in 2015 for stealing a BMW from the Assam Assembly. Her friend, former MLA Rumi Nath, unknowingly helped her enter the Assembly premises. Rekha falsely claimed that her husband wanted to visit the location, using this as an opportunity to commit the crime.
While reviewing her divorce papers, Vimal noticed that her real name was Rekha Chauhan, not Sharma. Suspicious, he searched online and found out that she was a wanted criminal.
Now, Vimal has approached the court, seeking to legally end his marriage, which he believes was based on deception and fraud.
