Gujarat Man Seeks Marriage Annulment After Discovering Wife’s Criminal Past
A man named Vimal Karia from Porbandar, Gujarat, has filed a petition to annul his marriage after discovering that his wife, Rekha Das, is a wanted criminal in Assam.
Vimal met Rekha on a matrimonial site and quickly decided to marry her. However, he later found out that Rekha, who had introduced herself as a religious person, was actually a notorious gangster from Assam accused of robbery, theft, murder, and illegal hunting.
Rekha Das was evading a non-bailable warrant issued by an Assam court. Despite this, she managed to marry Vimal by misleading him about her past and her previous marriage. Rekha claimed she had been married in a panchayat, thus lacking official divorce papers, which Vimal believed.
After six months of marriage, Rekha left Vimal’s home in Ahmedabad, citing a land issue in Assam, and never returned. Vimal later discovered her true identity and criminal background when reviewing her divorce papers, which revealed her real name as Rekha Chauhan. A Google search confirmed her status as a wanted criminal.
Rekha, also known as Rita, had previously been married to Anil Chauhan, a car thief currently imprisoned. She was involved in a high-profile car theft case in 2015, where she used her connections to gain access to the Assam Assembly premises.
This shocking revelation has led Vimal to seek legal action to annul his marriage, citing fraud and misrepresentation.
