In a bizarre incident, Abhayam Helpline counsellors recently handled a complicated case involving a 23-year-old woman from Ahmedabad. The woman claimed she was forced to marry her sister’s lover to conceal her sister’s extramarital affair.
The case details revealed that the woman’s elder sister orchestrated the marriage to hide her affair with her husband’s brother. The 23-year-old woman called the helpline, reporting harassment from her in-laws and her sister.
The woman explained to the counsellors that her sister married four years ago, and she discovered the affair soon after. Despite informing her husband about the affair, no action was taken, leading her to seek help from the helpline. She also revealed that she had no real relationship with her husband.
Eventually, her husband and sister admitted that the marriage was arranged to keep the affair secret within the family. The family has now promised that the extramarital affair will end and that they will make amends for the complainant.
