Gurugram: Woman Arrested for Fake Rape Allegation and Extortion Demand
In a shocking case from Gurugram, a woman has been arrested for falsely accusing a man of rape and demanding Rs 10 lakh in exchange for withdrawing the complaint. The incident came to light after a police investigation confirmed extortion.
The woman had filed a rape complaint at the Sector 40 police station. She claimed the man raped her in a hotel room in South City 1 on April 13, after they met through a mutual friend. Both had stayed together for a few hours after their friend left.
However, the man soon approached the police and alleged that the woman was trying to extort money from him to take back her complaint.
Taking both complaints seriously, the police gave the man a phone and asked him to record his conversation with the woman. The recording clearly showed that the woman was demanding Rs 10 lakh from him in return for withdrawing the rape accusation.
Following the evidence, the man submitted a written complaint. After verifying the facts, police booked the woman under Section 389 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), which deals with extortion by threatening false accusations.
The case highlights the seriousness of misusing legal provisions and how false allegations can damage the lives and reputations of innocent people. The Gurugram police emphasized that strict action will be taken in such cases to ensure justice.
