Rising False Cases Against Men in India: A Call for Legal Reform

We often hear that “it is a male-dominated world,” implying men have privileges women don’t. But is this true? Many innocent men in India are imprisoned due to false accusations, fighting for justice that seems out of reach due to the lack of laws protecting men.

Notable Cases Highlighting the Issue

Vishnu Tiwari – False Rape and SC/ST Act Conviction

Vishnu Tiwari, a simple man from Lalitpur, UP, was jailed in 2001 and convicted of rape and under the SC/ST Act in 2003. The Allahabad High Court acquitted him 20 years later, deeming the charges false. Tiwari lost his family during this time and missed their funerals. At 43, he questions how to restart his life with no education, skills, or family.

Col. Nitish Khanna – Suicide Due to Domestic Issues

Col. Nitish Khanna from Madhya Pradesh was found hanging in his quarters in January 2023. He had filed for divorce citing cruelty and attached evidence of his suffering. Sadly, he ended his life, leaving behind a note with just “SORRY” written on it.

Ratnesh Valmiki – Lawyer’s Tragic End

In March 2022, Ratnesh Valmiki, a lawyer from Uttar Pradesh, died by suicide at his home. He left an emotional note blaming his wife and mother-in-law for his distress.

Yadunandan Aacharya – False Domestic Violence Case

In Bangalore, Yadunandan Aacharya faced false domestic violence accusations from his wife. Despite having evidence of his innocence, the police did not listen to him or file his complaint. This harassment led to his father suffering a stroke and brain hemorrhage. The case is still pending in court.

Aman Baisla – Suicide Over False Rape Threats

In October 2020, Aman Baisla from Delhi committed suicide after being threatened with false rape allegations. He posted videos on social media explaining how a girl extorted 12.5 lakhs from him and threatened more false accusations. This incident caused public outrage, but received little media coverage.

Ayushi Bhatiya – Serial False Rape Accusations

In Gurugram, Ayushi Bhatiya was arrested for filing nine false rape cases to extort money from wealthy men. Many similar incidents in India involve women trapping men with false accusations.

The Need for Legal Reform

According to reports, around 80% of cases filed by women, including rape, domestic violence, and dowry claims, have turned out to be false over the past seven years. Many cases don’t even get registered. This isn’t about the rights of one gender but about basic human rights to a speedy trial and justice. When laws are gender-biased, true justice is impossible.

It’s time for the Indian government to wake up and address these issues to ensure fair treatment for all.
