Gurgaon Executive Dies by Suicide After Harassment Allegations
Amit Kumar, a senior executive at a private company in Gurgaon, reportedly died by suicide after facing sexual harassment allegations during a meeting. The tragic incident occurred at his home in Sector 9 on Tuesday morning, August 30.
In a four-page suicide note, Kumar apologized to his wife and young son, expressing distress over the humiliation he faced. “Whatever I am doing is due to allegations in the office. My family and relatives are not involved in this,” he wrote.
His wife has filed a police complaint, accusing the company and colleagues of abetment to suicide. The police have launched an investigation and called handwriting experts to verify the note. An FIR has been registered under Section 306 (abetment to suicide) of the Indian Penal Code.
Workplace Tension and Family Shock
Kumar had joined Optum Global Solutions, a healthcare service provider, just six weeks before his death. According to family members, they were unaware of the stress he faced. His cousin Mohit shared that Kumar never showed signs of anxiety despite issues reportedly brewing at his workplace for over a week.
The executive’s wife recounted receiving a call from a colleague on the morning of his death, warning her that Kumar had sent a message about ending his life. Despite her efforts, she found him hanging from a ceiling fan.
The company has yet to comment on the incident. Further investigation is underway to determine the circumstances that led to this tragic event.
