Ex-Navy Man Murdered by Wife and Son in Baruipur, Body Cut Into Six Pieces

A shocking murder case has surfaced from Baruipur, about 40 km from Kolkata, where a former Navy man was allegedly killed by his wife and son, who then cut his body into six parts and dumped them in nearby areas.

According to police, 55-year-old Ujjawal Chakraborty was murdered on the evening of November 14 following a fight over a ₹3,000 examination fee for his son, Raju Chakraborty, who was pursuing a polytechnic course.

As per preliminary investigation, Ujjawal was reportedly an alcoholic and often physically assaulted his son. During the heated argument, Raju lost control and strangled his father in a fit of rage. His mother, Shyamali Chakraborty, was also involved in the act.

Two days later, on November 17, human body parts started floating in a pond nearby. The police recovered a human head wrapped in a polythene bag from a well-known garment store. This clue helped them trace the locality and identify the victim.

The mother and son had already filed a missing person’s report in the early hours of November 15, just hours after the murder. Police became suspicious of their behavior and the timing of the complaint. Even after the body was identified, they claimed Ujjawal was killed by an outsider, as he frequently got into fights due to his drinking habit.

However, during intense interrogation, both confessed to the murder and dismemberment. The body parts were wrapped in plastic bags, and Raju used his bicycle to make six trips, dumping the remains across a 500-meter radius in Khas Mallick and Dehimedan Malla areas.

So far, the police have found four of the six parts, including the head, waist, and two legs. The two hands are still missing. The police believe the remaining parts were also dumped in ponds or bushes nearby.

Ujjawal, who worked as a security guard in a private agency, was reported missing just hours after his murder. On the morning of November 15, the mother and son pretended to be unaware and visited the police to report his disappearance.

Both accused were produced in court on Sunday and have been remanded to 12-day police custody.

This gruesome incident highlights the extreme consequences of domestic violence, mental stress, and unresolved family disputes.
