Egypt Launches First Men’s Rights Association to Address Family Law Issues

Egypt has taken a historic step by establishing its first-ever association dedicated to defending men’s rights under family law. The Directorate of Social Affairs in Giza approved the creation of the Egyptian Association for the Defense of the Rights of Men and Children.

Ahmed Matar Rizk, a lawyer and the chairman of the association’s board, revealed that the organization’s main aim is to uphold the integrity of Egyptian families and address the increasing divorce rates in the country.

Rizk explained that the association seeks to protect men’s legal rights in cases of divorce initiated by wives. It aims to shield men from abuse, harassment, imprisonment, and the loss of child custody during these legal proceedings.

For years, family laws in Egypt have primarily focused on protecting women, often leaving men vulnerable in cases of marital disputes. The establishment of this association is a significant move toward addressing this imbalance.
