Egypt Launches First Association to Defend Men’s Rights in Family Law
In a historic decision, Egypt has approved its first official organization focused on protecting the rights of men and children in family law matters. The Directorate of Social Affairs in Giza announced the formation of the Egyptian Association for the Defense of the Rights of Men and Children.
The association was founded to support fathers and reduce the rising number of divorce cases in the country. According to Ahmed Matar Rizk, a lawyer and chairman of the association, the goal is to protect the unity of Egyptian families and ensure men receive fair legal treatment.
Rizk told Al-Sharqiya news that many men suffer from abuse, legal harassment, jail time, and the loss of child custody when their wives initiate divorce. The association plans to help protect these men and advocate for legal reforms that support both parents equally.
Until now, family laws in Egypt have mainly protected women when they file for divorce. This new group hopes to bring more balance and fairness by defending men’s legal rights and improving outcomes for children and families.
