In a shocking crime in Delhi, police have arrested a woman and her son for the brutal murder of her husband. The woman, identified as Poonam, allegedly suspected her husband Anjan Das of having an extramarital affair. In June, she and her son Deepak killed him, cut his body into 22 pieces, stored them in a fridge, and gradually dumped the parts across East Delhi.
The case came to light when some of the body parts were discovered in Pandav Nagar in June. A murder case was registered, but progress was slow due to the decomposition of the remains.
Later, during the investigation of the Shraddha Walkar murder case, Delhi Police checked if the unidentified body parts could be connected. While scanning CCTV footage from the area, the Delhi Crime Branch noticed Poonam and her son visiting the location on multiple nights.
Further investigation revealed that Anjan Das, a resident of Pandav Nagar, had been missing for around six months, and his family had not filed any missing person report.
According to police, the accused gave Das sleeping pills before killing him. Once he was unconscious, they murdered him and stored the chopped body in the fridge. Over the next few days, they disposed of the body parts across different locations in East Delhi.
One CCTV video shows Deepak walking late at night with a bag believed to contain body parts. Another clip shows both Deepak and Poonam together, returning during the day. Police say they made several trips to dump the remains.
The case is still under investigation, and more details are expected soon.
