Delhi Double Murder Case: Woman Kills Husband and Mother-in-Law with Lover’s Help
In a shocking incident in Delhi, 29-year-old Monika Verma and her lover Ashish have been arrested for the murder of Monika’s husband and mother-in-law. The crime was driven by restrictions placed on Monika’s extramarital affair.
According to police reports, Monika claimed she committed the crime because her husband and in-laws were obstructing her relationship with Ashish. After discovering explicit chats between Monika and Ashish, Monika’s family took away her smartphone and gave her a basic feature phone. Despite this, Monika and Ashish continued to communicate through calls and secret meetings. Her mother-in-law, Veena, became increasingly watchful, leading to frequent arguments.
Monika married Ravi in 2016 and they have a son. Before marriage, Monika worked at a call center. She met Ashish, a bodybuilder and bouncer, in August 2020. Their relationship grew, and they frequently met at hotels. When Ashish’s mother discovered Monika was married, she opposed the affair, but the couple continued their relationship.
Tensions escalated when Ravi discovered Monika’s intimate chats with Ashish. Veena then kept a strict watch on Monika, resulting in household disputes. Monika stated, “It felt like living in a prison. They wanted to control my life. I have no regret for my actions.”
Monika grew angrier when her in-laws decided to sell their house and buy a new one in Dwarka, as her mother-in-law stood to gain a large sum from the sale. This led Monika to plan the murders in December 2022.
On February 20, 2023, Monika and Ashish met at a hotel to finalize the plan. On the day of the murder, when her mother-in-law went shopping, Monika hid Ashish on the terrace. Late at night, after everyone was asleep, Ashish came downstairs, and together, they murdered Monika’s husband and mother-in-law.
The next morning, neighbors discovered the bodies. They revealed there were frequent fights between Monika and Veena. CCTV footage also showed Ashish on his bike that night. Police questioned Monika and found two SIM cards, one of which she used to contact Ashish secretly. During interrogation, Monika confessed to the crime.
The case has shocked the local community and highlights the dark side of forbidden relationships and family conflicts.
