Daughter Exposes Mother’s Crime 3 Months After Father’s Death in Maharashtra

A woman in Maharashtra’s Chandrapur district has been arrested for murdering her husband, a crime that remained hidden for three months. The shocking truth came to light after the couple’s daughter discovered an audio recording of her mother confessing to the murder.

According to police, Ranjana Ramteke killed her husband, a retired government officer, on August 6, while he was asleep. In the audio recording, Ranjana is heard telling her lover, Mukesh Trivedi, that she suffocated her husband using a pillow and planned to pretend he died of a heart attack.

“I suffocated him with a pillow. I’ll inform the relatives in the morning and say he had a heart attack,” she said in the recording, according to police.

The next day, she called family members, shared the false news of a heart attack, and the man was cremated without any suspicion.

For three months, everything went according to Ranjana’s plan — until her daughter, Shweta, came to visit. Shweta borrowed her mother’s phone to make a call and stumbled upon the audio clip that revealed the chilling truth.

Shocked, she immediately approached the police with the recording. A senior officer confirmed that the audio captured a detailed confession, including how the murder was carried out and the intended cover-up.

Police then summoned Ranjana and her lover Mukesh, confronted them with the evidence, and both eventually confessed to the crime. They were taken into custody and are now facing murder charges.

This case highlights how digital evidence can play a key role in uncovering hidden crimes, even within families. Investigations are ongoing.
