Bijnor, Uttar Pradesh – In a rare incident, police used the threat of a bulldozer to enforce a court order allowing a woman named Nutan to enter her in-laws’ house. This took place in Dhokalpur village on Monday, following years of domestic abuse and a pending court case.
Nutan had married Robin, son of Devendra Singh, five years ago. However, soon after the marriage, she was allegedly harassed for dowry, beaten by her in-laws, and later thrown out of the house. Her father, Sher Singh, filed a domestic violence case against Robin on June 23, 2019, at the Haldaur police station.
Recently, the Allahabad High Court issued an order instructing the District Magistrate (DM) and Superintendent of Police (SP) of Bijnor to ensure Nutan was safely allowed back into her matrimonial home and provided full security.
Following the court’s directions, a team of police officers escorted Nutan to her in-laws’ house. However, her in-laws refused to open the door, despite repeated requests by officials.
In a bold move, the police called in a bulldozer, sending a strong warning that the court’s order had to be followed. Upon seeing the bulldozer outside, the in-laws finally opened the door and allowed Nutan to enter.
City SP Dr. Pravin Ranjan Singh confirmed the incident and said, “The woman was safely taken inside the house as per court orders. We have also ensured her security.”
This case has drawn attention to how police intervention, backed by judicial orders, can be crucial in protecting women’s rights, especially in cases involving domestic abuse and dowry harassment.
