A former police inspector from Bhopal, Harish Yadav, has been suspended for his role in falsely implicating individuals in fake rape cases and extorting money. This case came to light three years ago when a complaint was filed against Yadav and three police constables, accusing them of blackmailing people with the help of a woman. They reportedly used false rape allegations to demand money from their victims.
An investigation into the matter revealed that the police inspector, along with the constables and a woman, were part of a criminal scheme. On January 24, 2022, Yadav, who was the in-charge of the Ayodhya Nagar police station at the time, was suspended for his involvement in this honey trap operation.
The police inquiry uncovered that around 10 fake rape cases had been filed as part of the scheme. Previously, three police constables involved in the extortion were sent to prison and dismissed from service. Yadav was transferred to the Sagar district in Madhya Pradesh following the incident.
According to reports, the woman involved in the scheme would lure people into a trap using a sex racket. Once the victims were ensnared, they were blackmailed to pay money. If they complied, they were released; if they refused, the police would raid their property and arrest them. The woman would then falsely accuse the arrested individuals of rape.
