In a shocking incident, a 39-year-old physiotherapist from Bengaluru murdered her 71-year-old mother, stuffed the body in a suitcase, and took it to the police station. The woman, Sonali Sen, committed the crime following a family dispute.
The tragic event unfolded when Sen gave her mother, Bibha Paul, 30 blood pressure tablets. When her mother became unconscious, Sen used a dupatta to strangle her to death. After the murder, Sen packed her mother’s body into a suitcase along with her picture and took it to the Mico Layout Police Station in an auto-rickshaw. Upon arriving at the station, she calmly told the police, “I have killed my mother; the body is in the suitcase.”
Family and Background
Sonali Sen, originally from West Bengal, was the only child of her parents. After her father’s death five years ago, she had been taking care of her mother in Bengaluru. Sen lived with her husband, son, mother-in-law, and her mother in an apartment in Bilekahalli, located in the Mico Layout area of the city.
Police Investigation
The police are still investigating the exact motive behind the murder. According to a family member, there may have been domestic problems that led to the incident. The police have taken Sen into custody for further questioning. At the time of the murder, both her mother-in-law and her child were present in the house, but they were in different rooms.
A police sub-inspector has since filed a murder case against Sonali Sen, and the investigation is ongoing.
