Bengaluru Woman Arrested for Dragging Man on Car Bonnet for 3 km
A shocking road rage incident was reported in Bengaluru, where a woman dragged a man on the bonnet of her SUV for over 3 km. The incident took place on Ullal Main Road near Jnana Bharathi on Friday morning at 10:15 a.m. The Bengaluru Police later arrested the woman involved.
What Happened?
According to the first complaint, Darshan S, a 29-year-old man, was driving his Maruti Swift when he stopped Priyanka, the driver of a Tata Nexon, for allegedly running a red light.
Darshan claimed that:
- Priyanka responded by showing an offensive gesture and abusing him.
- He followed her car and intercepted it.
- A scuffle broke out, and someone assaulted him and tore his shirt.
- The police arrived and asked both parties to come to the station, but Priyanka refused.
- Darshan stood in front of her car to prevent her from leaving.
- Priyanka started her car, causing Darshan to fall onto the bonnet.
- She then drove for 3-4 km before locals intervened and stopped the vehicle.
Following the incident, Priyanka, her husband Pramod, and their friend Nithish were booked under IPC Sections 506 (criminal intimidation), 279 (rash driving), 307 (attempt to murder), and 323 (voluntarily causing hurt).
Counter-Complaint by Priyanka’s Husband
Priyanka’s husband Pramod filed a second complaint against Darshan, alleging that:
- Darshan abused Priyanka and pulled her clothes.
- Darshan and his friends tried to break the car’s windows.
- He jumped onto the car as they were trying to leave, which scared them, and they continued driving until they stopped near Sankalpa Hospital.
Based on Pramod’s complaint, Darshan has been booked under several IPC sections, including:
- 354B (criminal force to disrobe a woman)
- 427 (mischief causing damage)
- 506 (criminal intimidation)
- 341 (wrongful restraint)
- 504 (provocation to break public peace)
- 143, 149 (unlawful assembly)
- 323, 324 (voluntarily causing hurt)
- 354 (outraging a woman’s modesty)
Legal Action and Investigation
The Bengaluru police have registered separate cases based on both complaints and are investigating the full sequence of events. The incident has once again sparked concerns over road rage and traffic safety in the city.
