Archana Nag, a 26-year-old woman, has been arrested for allegedly blackmailing wealthy and influential individuals, including politicians, businessmen, and film producers. She reportedly extorted money by threatening to release intimate photos and videos of her victims.
Originally from a poor family in Kalahandi district, Archana has amassed significant wealth, including a luxurious home with imported furnishings, high-end cars, four pedigree dogs, and a white horse.
Police reports indicate that Archana started her career at a private security firm before moving to a beauty parlour, where she met and married Jagabandhu Chand from Balasore district in 2018. While working at the beauty parlour, she is accused of running a sex racket.
Archana is said to have befriended many influential people through Jagabandhu, and she allegedly used these connections to blackmail her targets. Police claim that she took intimate photos of powerful individuals and then extorted money from them.
In one case, a film producer reported to Nayapally police station that Archana demanded ₹3 crore from him after showing him compromising photos with other women.
Archana was arrested on October 6, 2022, following a complaint from a girl who accused her of exploiting her in the racket. According to a senior police officer, an internal review revealed that Archana and her husband had acquired properties worth ₹30 crore in just four years, from 2018 to 2022.
Bhubaneswar DCP Prateek Singh mentioned that only two cases have been registered against Archana so far, with further investigations ongoing.
