Chilling Details Unveiled in Delhi’s Anjan Das Murder Case
The Delhi Crime Branch has exposed shocking details in the Anjan Das murder case, where his wife and stepson confessed to brutally killing him and disposing of his body parts.
Murder and Motive
According to Special CP Crime Ravinder Yadav, Anjan Das was murdered sometime before June 5, when his mutilated body parts were found stuffed inside a bag at Ramlila Ground in Kalyanpuri, East Delhi.
The accused, Poonam, was furious after discovering that her husband, Anjan Das, was already married and had been secretly sending money to his first wife and eight children in Bihar after selling her jewelry. She also alleged that Das had ill intentions toward her stepdaughter and stepson’s wife, which led to the murder plot.
Her son Deepak admitted to supporting the plan as he claimed Das was harassing his wife.
Execution of the Crime
- In June, Poonam and Deepak spiked Anjan’s drink and waited for him to lose consciousness.
- Once unconscious, they killed him and left the body overnight so the blood could dry.
- The next day, Deepak chopped the body into pieces, packed them in polythene bags, and stored them in the fridge.
- Over the following days, they disposed of the body parts in different locations.
Suspicion and Investigation
The crime came to light when a foul smell started coming from their house. To cover it up, the duo had the house painted, but neighbors complained to the police.
Following the discovery of body parts in June, the police conducted an investigation using CCTV footage and door-to-door verification. The footage showed Poonam and Deepak frequently visiting a deserted plot, raising suspicion.
Police also found it suspicious that Anjan Das had been missing for six months, yet no missing person report had been filed by his family.
Confession and Arrest
On Monday, Poonam was arrested from her Trilokpuri residence. She confessed, stating:
“He had bad intentions toward my children. That’s why I did it. My son killed him with a knife, I didn’t do it.”
Past Relationships and Family History
- Poonam was married at 14 to Sukhdev Tiwari, who later abandoned her.
- She moved to Delhi and lived with a man named Kallu, who died in 2016.
- In 2017, she married Anjan Das, unaware that he had a family in Bihar.
- Das, a lift operator, sold her jewelry and sent the money to his first family.
Current Investigation Status
- The police have recovered six body parts so far.
- CCTV footage confirms that Poonam and Deepak were disposing of evidence at different times of the day.
This case highlights yet another shocking instance of domestic crime, leaving many in Delhi disturbed by its gruesome details.
