Ahmedabad – A tragic case has surfaced from Narol, Ahmedabad, where a man named Vipan Sharma ended his life after facing continuous pressure and harassment from his in-laws to buy a house.
Vipan, who worked in a textile factory and lived in Om Shantinagar-2 in Narol, had been married since 2013. His father, Vasdev Khali Ram Sharma (65), a resident of Haryana, filed a police complaint after his son consumed poison and died by suicide.
According to the complaint, Vipan’s in-laws, including his wife and father-in-law, regularly pressured him to borrow money and buy a house. He was also reportedly beaten up by them. The emotional and physical torture became unbearable, leading him to take this extreme step.
The Narol Police have registered a case against five people named in the FIR under Sections 306 (abetment of suicide) and 114 (presence during the crime) of the Indian Penal Code. The case is currently under investigation.
This unfortunate incident highlights the serious impact of domestic harassment and the importance of mental health awareness and support.
