Woman and Three Lawyers Arrested in Agra for Extorting Money Using Fake Rape Case
Agra police recently arrested a woman and three lawyers for allegedly extorting ₹5 lakh from a man by filing a fake rape case against him.
According to Superintendent of Police Vikas Kumar, a woman lodged a complaint on June 24 at Hari Parvat police station, claiming she was raped by a man named Rahul Kumar. She said Rahul had invited her to a hotel under the pretense of a birthday party. The woman alleged that she was given intoxicants, and Rahul took obscene photos and videos of her. She also claimed that Rahul and his family threatened her.
Based on her complaint, the police registered a case under sections 376, 504, 506, and 328 against Rahul and his family. Sub-Inspector Neelam and the investigation team later gathered evidence proving that the rape complaint was false.
During the investigation, it was discovered that lawyers from both sides—those representing the woman and Rahul—were involved in demanding money from Rahul.
Following this, the police registered a new case against the woman and three lawyers named Jitendra Rajput, Nishant Kumar, and Shekhar Pratap Singh. The names of two other lawyers, including a woman lawyer, also came up, and police are searching for their arrest.
The woman complainant and her lawyer have been arrested, while Rahul’s lawyer, Avnindra Vaishya, is still at large.
The police recovered ₹3.75 lakh cash from the arrested accused. They were charged under sections 388, 384, 420, 182, and 195 for filing a false case and extortion.
Inspector Arvind Kumar of Hari Parvat police station said that the woman and three lawyers were presented in court and sent to jail on Wednesday.
