Man Kills Wife After Counselling Session at Bengaluru Family Court

In a tragic incident at a family court in Karnataka, a man killed his wife by slitting her throat with a machete after they attended a counselling session as part of their divorce proceedings. The man, Shivakumar, tried to flee but was quickly captured by bystanders and handed over to the police. His wife, Chaitra, was rushed to the hospital, but sadly, she did not survive.

The couple, married for seven years, had attended a one-hour counselling session at the Holenarasipura family court in Hassan district. During the session, they had reportedly agreed to reconcile and save their marriage. However, after the session, Shivakumar attacked Chaitra when she stepped out of the court and went towards the washroom. He followed her and violently slit her throat, leaving her seriously injured.

As Shivakumar attempted to escape the scene, he was stopped and subdued by bystanders who witnessed the attack. Police officers quickly took him into custody and seized the weapon used in the crime.

Hariram Shankar, a senior police officer, confirmed that Shivakumar has been charged with murder. The police are now investigating how the weapon was brought into the court and whether the attack was premeditated. “We have him in our custody and have seized the weapon. We are looking into what happened after the counselling session and how the machete was brought inside the court premises,” said Shankar.

The investigation will reveal further details about the case, including whether this was a planned murder.
