A traffic cop in Delhi was assaulted by a group of people, including two women, after he stopped a scooter for traveling on the wrong side of the road. The incident occurred around 10 a.m. on Deoli Road, where Traffic Inspector Rajendra Prasad and a constable were helping to clear the traffic.
The trouble began when the traffic police stopped a scooter carrying three people. The woman riding the scooter became angry, leading to a heated argument with the traffic police. During the confrontation, the woman allegedly hit the cop, which escalated into a physical fight. The woman reportedly fell during the altercation, prompting locals to intervene and beat up the police officers, chasing them down the road.
A video of the incident shows the woman accusing Traffic Inspector Rajendra Prasad of taking away her scooter keys. Two women and a man can be seen assaulting the cop, who tries to escape but is chased and continuously hit.
According to the police, the scooter was stopped because the riders were traveling on the wrong side of the road and were not wearing helmets, which are mandatory in Delhi. When Head Constable Rajendra Prasad called for a crane to tow the scooter, the situation escalated, and the woman started physically assaulting the traffic personnel.
Six people, including the two women involved in the incident, have been detained by the police. The authorities are investigating the matter to ensure justice and uphold traffic regulations.
This incident highlights the challenges faced by traffic police in enforcing road safety laws and the need for public cooperation in maintaining order on the roads.
