Love Tragedy Turns Criminal: Woman Alleges Attempted Murder After Failed Suicide Pact
What seemed like a plot straight out of a Bollywood movie turned into a harrowing reality for two lovers embroiled in a tumultuous affair. In a shocking twist, their suicide pact ended in allegations of attempted murder after one of them backed out.
The incident unfolded on the New Yamuna Bridge, where the lovers, entangled in extramarital affairs, had decided to end their lives together by jumping into the river. While the woman, a 32-year-old mother of a six-year-old, bravely jumped into the Yamuna, her paramour, Chandu, hesitated and refused to follow suit.
Betrayed and shocked by Chandu’s decision, the woman, who was proficient in swimming, managed to swim back to safety. Upon her return, she lodged a First Information Report (FIR) against Chandu, accusing him of attempt to murder and damaging her mobile phone during the altercation.
The backstory revealed that the woman and Chandu had been in a relationship for several years, but complications arose when Chandu secretly married another woman in Pune while the woman was away. Tensions escalated upon her return to Prayagraj, leading to heated arguments over Chandu’s marital status and promises of divorce.
Circle Officer Santosh Singh confirmed that an FIR has been registered against Chandu, and investigations are underway into the incident. The woman, meanwhile, received medical treatment following the traumatic events.
This case serves as a stark reminder of the complexities of relationships and the dire consequences of impulsive decisions, reflecting the blurred lines between love, betrayal, and criminality in modern society.
